Injured Louisiana woman resolves claim against Frac Tech Services, Ltd. and Frac Tech Services, LLC
FORT WORTH, TEXAS—Joyce Burton, from Jackson, Louisiana, has settled a premises liability lawsuit against Frac Tech Services, Ltd. and Frac Tech Services, LLC for $450,000. The lawsuit was filed in Parker County, Texas on behalf of Joyce Burton against Frac Tech Services, Ltd. and Frac Tech Services, LLC. Ms. Burton was represented by attorney John David Hart of the Law Offices of John David Hart in Fort Worth, Texas.
On February 19, 2008, Joyce Burton was working for L&B Transport delivering hydrochloric acid to a Frac Tech facility located in Aledo, Texas. Frac Tech is an oil field services company involved in hydraulic fracturing (“fracking”) in oil and gas operations. As she was unloading the hydrochloric acid, the fitting of a hose came loose and began to spray hydrochloric acid onto her face and body. Ms. Burton alleged that there were two safety showers at the Frac Tech facility, that one was not working properly and that the second was locked and not accessible. She suffered serious hydrochloric acid burns to her face, chest and abdomen.
“Safety must be the number one priority of any business, especially an oil field services company utilizing hazardous chemicals,” said attorney John David Hart. “We were pleased to reach a settlement for Joyce Burton that will compensate her for her economic and personal injuries.”
