2010 Motor Vehicle Crashes: Texas

In December 2011, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) published a research note providing statistics and analysis of motor vehicle crashes that took place in the country in 2010. The research note included specific crash statistics on Texas. The statistics indicated a reduction in the number of crash fatalities from 2009 to 2010.

In 2009, the total number of motor vehicle crash fatalities in Texas was 3,104. In 2010, the total number of motor vehicle crash fatalities was 2,998. Texas saw a reduction in the total number of motor vehicle crash fatalities from 2009 to 2010 (-106). This was a 3.4% reduction of the total number of motor vehicle fatalities from 2009 to 2010. Texas was the state with the fourth highest reduction in motor vehicle crash fatalities in 2010. The research note did not break down truck fatality statistics by state.
